● Hello ●

I’m Gabriela, an artist and paper engineer based in Lisbon.

I’ve been making and creating for as long as I can remember and have dipped my toes into many creative avenues; Printmaking, painting and sculpture to name a few. However, I decided to focus on illustration in the end and went on to study this at the University of the West of England, Bristol. It was during this time that I was introduced to the world of pop-ups and I learnt how to create them thanks to a workshop by Duncan Birmingham. What can I tell you, I’ve never looked back and have incorporated this 3D element into my work ever since.

I have created two privately commissioned pop-up books, one of which was successfully published via Kickstarter as well as several pop-up cards for many occasions. As for my illustrations, I can say that my work has changed quite a bit over the years and is currently strongly influenced by urban cityscapes. I turned into an urban sketcher during my travels and after moving to Lisbon, which has a big USk community. Driven by my desire to combine these two creative outlets I recently started to create urban pop-ups. So check back soon to see how I turned a corner of a city into a movable paper sculpture.

Many thanks for taking the time to browse my page, I hope you enjoy my artwork. If you have any questions don’t hesitate to get in touch.

Gabriela
